i have windows xp with the latest media player 11 and i also have the div x player and i would like to be able to view div x videos on my ps3 , theres a site called stage 6 or something and it has loads of divx files?

cheers

Only if you promise not to create a new thread for every single new ps3 feature that you use :)

whilst it was easy to set it up on wmp11, i found that my ps3 had difficulties finding the shared files... i mean it was really inconsistent.

i then tried tversity and it seems to work much better and was just as easy to set up. I literally installed, chose the directies i wanted to share then the ps3 detects it and i was away.. pretty painless

ok i promise:)

I am not at home near my PC, but you just need to do 2 things:

1) on ps3 enable "Media Server Connection", this will place a "look for media servers" icon in each of the pictures/videos/music tabs.

2) in wmp11 enable sharing and put in there the folders of where your content is stored. WMP11 also has a tab of detected devices and the ps3 will show up as "Unknown Device" in here, you will have to allow it.

After these steps you should see an entry in pictures/videos/music in the ps3 with maybe your PC name in there and a Windows logo on it. Under there will be a list of Pictures/Videos/Music and you just browse to the type of media.

It is very easy to setup, the only advantage TVersity has, that it can stream any file (if ps3 does not support the video file it will Transcode the file on the fly). WMP11 will only play back files that play back on the ps3 natively.

hi

this may be a bit of dumb question but if i want to stream something to my ps3 does the other pc have to be turned on all the time even when watching the streamed content or does it save on the ps3 once streamed?

thanks

pc has to be on, as does the program you use to stream the media. no content will be saved onto the ps3 when it is streamed unless you actually select the file and tell it to copy to the hd

if your pc is not on a lot then you could just copy stuff onto usb memory stick and plug it into the ps3 and play it off that, really quick and easy for one offs
