Streaming Issue OBS + Steam

Hello people,

I was wondering if anybody could suggest something wrong with my setup. I've configured OBS studio to recommended settings that my pc build should handle but when i hit the stream button and start CSGO, my CPU usage is around 95% and its causing very stuttery gameplay with my FPS flapping all over the place (I usually have a steady 250).

I don't have NVIDIA experience running in the background and have no other programs running than those needed.

Encoder set to x264
Bitrate 2500
Server: London
CBR
Output resolution 720p

My CPU: i5 4690 3.50GHz
GPU: MSI GTX 970
Ram: 8GB

I don't feel that its the OBS settings that are influencing the CPU drain. CSGO on its own averages 60 percent useage. OBS on its own averages 10 percent useage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, ive tweaked around all week with no luck and its done my tree top in.

I did have some problems with stuttery gameplay until I realised it was trying to stream at the resolution I was playing at but I quickly worked that one out!

I have almost the same spec PC but I have double your RAM which I suspect might be causing some issues but that's a wild guess! What res are you playing at? :)

Thanks for replying. I have my base resolution at 1920x1080 and my output resolution is set at 1290x720. Downscale filter at 16 samples and fps at 30. I didn't think that more than 8GB RAM was required and the performance chart didnt show it taking all the space up but you have a very good point!

Tried using NVENC instead?

Visual quality isn't as good imho but should take the strain off the CPU.

Hey. I have tried that and didn't notice enough difference to keep it at that setting, i did hear this was a better encoder though
