Streaming issues between PC and AppleTV

Hi all,

Really need your help on this.

For as long as I can remember I have had issues with streaming movies, music and tv shows from my PC to my Apple TV.

The connection between the two has always been either wireless or through homeports, or a combination of the two.

This has occurred across two different networks (Virgin and Plusnet) thus two different pieces of equipment have been used. Which leads me to believe that it must be the PC in some fashion.

I can access Netflix through AppleTV with only occasional issues. So I think the wifi to the AppleTV must be okay.

Following advice from the apple store today I've played around with the channel settings of my wifi and whilst this hasn't caused any additional issues it has not fixed the problem of not being able to stream.

I thought it might be down to connecting my PC to the network via homeports, but I have just moved the router next to the PC and connected directly to it and it's still not working.

It's not always been as bad as this. For the last few years I've been able to reset the network, itunes, PC etc and can eventually get it working, however despite attempting all of that consistently over the last three weeks I have been unable to even find the library on AppleTV.

Wifi still works and I can still watch Netflix through ATV.

Today I've dug out an old laptop of ours, which connects wirelessly to the network and it works fine. AppleTV was able to detect the library immediately and was able to start streaming. It might be worth noting that the laptops uses the same iTunes account.

Anyone able to offer any assistance?

Regards

Lee

I'm using iTunes to Apple TV.... I think that answers the question?

I confused as I didnt realise Apply TV can stream from things other than iTunes.

I don't own an AppleTV but thought you could run Plex on them.

In any case, if you're doing it from iTunes, it could be a firewall issue from your PC. Also what versions of Windows are on the PC and laptops you've tried?

Try Air Video Hd it works perfectly from my nas drive to either the iPhone or the ipad any type of video file too.

Once you have got the app you just need to download the free client either for the mac or pc.

Cheers
