I'm slowly getting interested in electronics and I'd like to stream my progress when it comes to learning. I'll need a second desk which I can use for electronics components and paper books etc. The thing is I'd like to be able to record the desktop and was wondering if there were any holders which allowed you to use an iPhone to record downwards? Furthermore I have a web cam which I'd like to use for streaming myself and also I want to be able to stream my mac desktop.

I know I could use OBS for the streaming side of things but I'm having a few issues with it. Can anyone recommend some alternative software that can handle the above set up? Also a holder for the iPhone to record the desktop would be good as well.

Isn’t there something now in macOS/iOS that allows you to put your phone on top of the display and use it to record both close ups of the desk and you at the same time? Sure I saw that in a release a year or so ago.

Oh, yes. I had forgotten about that.

The problem with that is I want my current webcam (Logitech C920) to film my face/body and use the phone for the actual desktop. Also the way I was planning it was to have two desks in an L shape and the electronics stuff would be done on the desk which is at a 90 degree angle from the monitors. The desk space under the monitor would be used for books and keyboard and mouse.

I've got something similar for my iPad, the 'arm' is pretty stiff so I can put the iPad more or less where I want but being so long it wobbles a bit. Would the image stabilisation correct that? I don't know. Might not be so bad with a lighter iPhone.

So I've been reading about this and come up with a solution. If you buy the EpocCam Pro app on your iPhone and install Camera Hub on your Mac you can use your iPhone with a desk mount to record whatever you like. You just add the webcam source to Streamlabs Desktop (or OBS Studio if you prefer) and away you go. The app is £8 which is pretty cheap to be honest.

I'll need to check this out, thanks :)
