Hello everyone,

I need to buy a new pc. After years of carrying heavy (needed high very high specs for work) laptops around and backpain i am fed up. I decided to buy a desktop and use remote desktop when i need to take my work with me.

I am a complete noob when it comes to networks so please bear with me.

The thing is - i like to play games as well. Only at home. I know it wouldnt be possible with teamviewer or sth simmilar.
I would need to keep my desktop in other room. I like to play on the couch (please don't tell me to buy playstation!). So around 10m in a straight line - no way to put a cable on the floor ;).
So I would need to somehow connect my laptop to my pc. As far as i know it is impossible to play through wireless connection that way. I have multiple internet sockets around my flat and i would be perfectly fine with connecting with cable through sockets but am not sure if that is even possible.

Another solution I can think of is using a wireless screen but thats not very convinient to play on I belive, as I usually hold laptop on my laps.

Maybe you guys know any solutions that would help me to achieve that?

Thanks!

Couple of powerline adapters and a Steam Link should do the trick.

I use a Couchmaster Cycon to give me a lapdesk on the sofa, but any sort of tray to put a KB & Mouse on will do.

A program called parsec can do this, along with nvidia shield app in the nvidia experience. There is one other i was recommended but i forgot the name, i will go back through my posts a couple of months and try and find it for you.

Hey guys,
Thank you for your replies. I didn't know about powerline adapters - wouldn't even imagine internet could be magically transferred through electric cables at such speeds :O. Let's leave keyboard and mouse aside for now as i mostly use controller for playing (fifa). As for Steam Link and Parsec and other simmilar solutions - isn't latency a problem? Is it even possible to get no-lag, high fps on such setup? Isn't it possible to use screen mirroring through ethernet cable on better latency than through wireless solutions?

So how would you do it? As far as i understand it:

Room 1: router (as i need it from my internet provider) connected to a with ethernet desktop and powerline adapter (+steamlink?).
Room 2: powerline adapter connected to outlet in other room and a cable connected to a laptop (lets say) (+steamlink?)

Once again thanks for your help!
