a question for the cine gurus here.

i have a htpc+nas for my film collection,

my cousin abroad asked if i am able to stream the films to him via my htpc.

the htpc is running a intel atom ion with boxee

is this possible and will there be lag and quality problems ?

im completely clueless on how to do this

As well as being illegal, it's completely impractical and VERY dependant on your internet connection (upload rate), connections between you and his country and then his internet connection.

well atm im giving him vpn connection atm for viewing bbc iplayer.

its my content i dont see the issues. its not DRM content

its holland so not that far and ping rates from my ip is between 30-50ms

It's not about your latency, it's how much data your internet connection can shift to your cousin.

Streaming movies would be beyond the limits of your internet connection I assume.

ok i see its to do with my upload speed.

i guess thats gonna be pointless. i think 1.3mbps is not going to cut it for streaming hd content
