i use a macbook and airport express to play my music wirelessly to my hifi which works great through itunes. but i'm wanting to also be able to stream other sounds from the macbook i.e. for watching movies/tv and games as the built in speakers are "*** suck".

after a bit of googling i've discovered Justeport and oAEP, but both of these are only for windows!??!! is there a similar thing for osx as this is the first apple thing that is really annoying me... i can't believe i paid for all their hardware and then they implement restrictions on what i can do with it!

getting massive lag on video sound, through both vlc and quicktime :[ was gonna buy it too but it's pretty much no good to me unless it can sync up properly! any suggestions?

I believe this lag is unavoidable - after all, how does the software know the physical lag between the computer and your speakers?

The best thing I've managed is to use 'F' and 'G' when playing videos in VLC to decrease/increase the audio lag. It's not perfect though because other factors mean the lag may change.

This is why Airtunes was designed for music only!

ah, i see. i assumed that because the entire process was digital, from video file on hd through to sound playback from optical connection that somehow it would know how much the lag was and automatically make adjustments to sync the output :(

damn it, i should have not bothered with the airport express and instead waited for the video version that the apple store guy advised was out next! i assumed i would only want it for music but i never thought it through practically :)
