Streaming to PS3

PS3 mediaserver doesn't stream MKV files, it can only transcode them. That's why it stutters.

Only way to properly stream IIRC is to share the folder on a Windows 7 machine and install DivX Codec, only ever tried it with 360s though, works perfect :)

Completely wrong, sure that wasn't Tversity transcoding? PS3 MediaServer streams MKVs fine, wireless just can't provide the bandwidth.

PS3 Media server plays MKV fine. The problem is wireless you need to hardwire the PS3 to play 720p and higher content.

When I last used it, the CPU was actually be utilised quite a lot, hench it was transcoding, not really ideal for a netbook. Good to know they've fixed it though.

DivX+Windows 7 works perfect for me streaming over wireless, even a 18gb 1080p Blade Runner mkv :) No CPU usage, no fan noise, no issues.

Is media centre reducing the bit-rate of the video though?
