Hello all,

Webcams - streaming, realtime webcams.

Anyone had experience? Can you help me with this?

Obviously a webcam needed, and a laptop with broadband - but what software? Server requirements?

I'm looking to broadcast 4 or 5 webcams for a day's marathon events, and want to broadcast as good quality as possible, but real time video (not 30 second images etc)

Would love to hear anyone's advice, thank you

Are you wanting to stream audio as well ?

a lot of free software exists to allow you to stream your webcam onto your LAN and that can be set up at the router with the right port forwarding to allow people to type a URL of http://[Your IP]:[port software uses] to watch the streaming.

However, to broadcast 5 individual webcams (with or without audio) from one computer may require some software which is quite specialised.. which you may not be able to get from freeware. Oh and quite a bit of upload bandwidth. How many viewers are you planning on?

Your best bet for anything with multiple viewers is probably a website which will do the streaming for you.. You may need a computer per stream for that however.

say 5 different webcams from different computers and different broadbands?

possibly one with audio
