Streaming Xvid/Divx over http or ftp?

I have a bunch of xvid avi files I've made for my video project at uni. I have them available on my web server so I have access to them externally.

I was wondering if there is any software to stream them over the internet (http or ftp) rather than have to download the file first before watching it, even if they're xvid or divx encoded?

I would rather not have to stream raw avi or use other encoding methods.

Make a account on stage6 website that streams divx nicely.

I used the above suggestion for a couple of dvix files and it worked a treat...
