StreetKA alternatives

So my girlfriend has decided she wants a StreetKA. Specifically she wants a convertible for the summer and has around £3-5k to spend (low end of the budget preferred). A StreetKa comes in around £3k looking on autotrader.

What else is there to consider? I can think of the following:

Vauxhall Tigra
MG TF
Mazda MX5

Ideally I think she'd like a Mini convertible but they are outside of her budget and finance is not something I want to push.
 
Well, honestly I know very little about "pop" convertibles. However, that said, you have mentioned 3 not very good cars and 1 car (MX-5) that is heralded as one of the best small sports cars of all time.

Seems like a bit of a no-brainer to me if the MX-5 is an option, given the budget?
 
MX-5 all day long. :p

*Edit* On a more serious note, I think most people on here will say MX-5 because they would want a drivers car.

I would imagin your girlfriend is more interested in looking good with the hood down over the summer. This difference in priorities makes the decision a bit harder because I'm not sure what spec MX-5 you can get for that budget and she might consider the MK 1 a bit dated in the looks department...

That's the direction I'm trying to suggest to her as well but I think she has her heart set on the StreetKa.

We'll go and have a look at a StreetKa, Tigra and MX5 at the weekend. At least I have given her the option then but I have a bad feeling I know where this is going :p
 
You'll never get her in a mk1 MX-5 unless she is a secret petrol head and wants to enjoy the backend out on the mini roundabout thrills that they provide. Settle for getting her the best example of the car she wants for a decent price, Beetle would be nice though if it can be done in budget.

Yep I have just run in to this problem. She doesn't like the look of them and has therefore already ruled them out. I'm fighting a loosing battle here :)
 
What about mk2 mx5's much better looking imo

but to be honest she has already made her mind up she wants a street ka...
