Stress testers.

Hey guys,

I’m on the verge of overclocking my burnt in E2160, but in anticipation of any possible instabilities I want to get the latest stress testers downloaded and at the ready

I’ve been out of the game for a while, but I think the tools I used last time were Prime95 and OCCT?

What should I be looking at now?

Prime95
Orthos
Intel TAT
Everest 4.20 Stabilty Test

Personally I would go for Orthos, I find it the best for dual core - and Prime95 for quad core.

Everest has the only decent memory tester in Windows...but still, it's not as good as memtest86

http://www.memtest.org/download/1.70/memtest86+-1.70.iso.zip

Extract the files and Burn the iso to a cd

In bios change CD to first boot device and it will automatically run memtest for you.

Hugs his DFI board with memtest built into the bios - now THAT'S a true enthusiast board. Prime and memtest86 should see you right (I like short FFTs as it isolates the cpu) then get ATi tool for your gfx card - boom - stability tested!

Have you tried it? It works quite well actually, so far from my experience it's always detected even slightly unstable ram.

I just prefer memtest because I don't have to boot into windows, I just boot off my usb drive.
