Hi, My Striker II Formula board network controllers died the other day and im looking to replace the board. I've had two different nforce 7 boards first one was dead on arrival :(

I've got two Asus 8800GTX Graphics card's and would like to use them with the new board however i wouldnt mind changing graphics to say crossfire and having a better more stable board. I was thinking maybe X48 Chipset.

Anyways just wondering what you guys would suggest my cpu is Intel Q6600 DDR2 Ram.

Thanks

P.S. Asus nforce 7 boards really do suck :(

befor you buy another board there may be a way to get you onboard lan's to work.

first take the power lead out of the psu , then press and hold the start and reset buttons for at least 10 seconds , power back up and see if they work again.

sounds daft i know , but on the asus forums people have been having the same problem with various asus boards and this soloution works, my p5n32e-sli did this and this soloution worked. supposedy the lan ports go into sleep mode and dont wake properly , doing this trick discharges the caps on the board and resets the lan's..

have a go , it may work

ps , if it dosent work i recomend the rampage formula, best board i have had for ocing, ddr2 as well :)

Hi, Yeah I've tried this it worked the first time but not now :( Also tried several different bios with no luck :(

I dont think I will be buying another asus board.

If you were thinking of x48 you could do an awful lot worse than this.

I've only ever had one nforce board and it was shocking. I'd always choose an Intel setup unless you wanted SLI.

If you want to keep your cards and CPU you could buy a 790i. I here they are pretty good. You'd need new ram though.

Thanks Zero One that board looks good only thing i can see which isnt great is it doesnt support 1066 ram.

Cheers for the help guys much appreciated.

Buying a cheap network card might be an option

I did try a expensive (£127) server network card (PCI-E) but the PC wouldnt even boot with it in.

I'm also looking at the Asus P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n board has some nice features reading the reviews now.

Thanks for your replys everyone

Ok I've kinda done a U-Turn and decided to buy another ASUS Motherboard because this one doesnt have nForce 780.

I am pre-ordering the Asus P5Q3 Deluxe I like the built in Wifi N and TPM which works great with Vista Bitlocker Drive Encryption.

Its also not to expensive leaving me more money to spend on DDR3 Ram, I was wondering though I have two 8800gtx graphic cards. Would I be able to run just one card but not in sli mode.
