How quick in a line? actual numbers...

had a good natured putter with one just now, up to about 60 or so. it didnt hang about, though i wasnt giving it ten tenths cos my mate was in the car

Fairly quick I should imagine - however a corner? Then I would worry.

I would hazard a guess at 7 secs to 60 and a 14-15 sec 1/4 mile

can be good fun an XE'd corsa :)

had a few when i was younger albeit in novas, very easy conversion to do as well. if you have the mounts and shafts you can do it in a day easily, so plenty of them around.

bear in mind stripped and caged a corsa will be almost anorexic in comparison to your BMW. i've seen them down as low 750kg before driver for some track toys. and a stock XE will put out 150/156 bhp allow for the most likely mods and you'd be up against an easy 200-220 bhp/ton

Since when can you get 280bhp from an XE? Or do you mean a LET?

and 280 bhp is hardly a beast of a LET. quite a few north of 400 bhp :) and yes these can be found in corsas and novas too :)

a XE will generally be anything from 150 stock to 175 with cams and breathing mods, you can start pushing 200 bhp going for carbs/Throttle Bodys and a few nutters do, but most opt to go for a C20LET for over 200 bhp

i've been lucky enough to have driven a 300 BHP nova and believe me its a bloody handful but stupidly quick, and by stupidly quick i mean its up there baiting cars that cost 6 figure prices (well in a straight line anyway )

i believe the cavalier touring car engines were hyped-up XEs

it's a good lump, and represents a lot of cheap fun in a corsa if that's your bag

it's fun to run with petrolheads, however they achieve their speed.

those conversions are epic, a friend of mine has the C20LET in his corsa C, has had some minor head work and remap to get 300bhp out of it, best thing is it looks stock from the outside and inside, even has a tape player fitted. Reason people do it is for the sleeper effect, its so much fun beating chavs and young rich kids in 6 figure cars, that look of disbelief is soo worth it!

Haha I love this. I saw a Corsa C badged as a 1.2 on the way down to Manchester a few months ago. It was all over the arse of a 335i up the M62. I thought it had nitrous at the time but thinking about it it was probably a C20LET.
Guy in the bimmer looked somewhat miffed.

I had a Jenvey throttle bodied Astra Gte it made 202hp on the Rollers and made a stonking noise. I still have the engine and one day I might revive it in a manta or something similar. I built a few Xe Nova's and a couple of let's in nova's and Astra's. They are serious fun for not a lot of money. A let in a Nova will out pull a lot of high performance cars on the road its just the cornering that becomes the fun bit..
