Im patiently waiting for the Strix 1080 OC to become available. Im basicaly building for Battlefield 1 which is out in October, so i have a little wait time left, but I want to get the system built and tweaked intime to play BF1 on launch day. Should I give the Strix more time or look for an alterative? any advice would be helpful

I don't see any reason to wait for the Strix really. It's absolutely nothing special and nor are Asus in terms of aftersales support. Waiting weeks/months for it when you could have a card just as good (or better) installed and being enjoyed within a couple of days seems daft. I know you say you're waiting for Battlefield 1, but I'm sure there are some other things that'd look real nice on a 1080 that you could play to pass the time. :p

If you're upgrading strictly for BF and your current card copes well in the games you currently play, I'd wait a bit. Maybe you'll find a better deal. I'd also wait for benchmarks and perf analysis, unless you absolutely want to play on launch day.

Personally, I don't think the Strix is worth it. People are very happy with cheaper 1080s which are every bit as good.

Zotac and Palit seem to be safe bets.

EDIT: As above, no reason to wait and pay more for abysmal customer service and a card whose 1070 variant couldn't even hold its advertised boost clocks.

I bought from OCUK the MSI GTX1080 Armor OC for £599.99 and is superb. Overclocked nicely without much fiddling to 2126 core, while is dead quiet. And going to watercool it on Thursday when the block is here.

If overclocking not your thing, out of the box came with 1911 boost clock.

Get the cheapest you can and thats it.
All aib cards clocks less than FE. Get FE = win

My Armor clocked easily at 2126 without much hassle, and still there is room for improvement. While runs at 65C @ 92% fan speed

Founders Edition = loud and downclocks due to heat more like.

OP you should just go for the cheapest one with a good cooler. All 1080's cap out at around 2080-2120 MHz core, so all you're paying for is different coolers and warranty lengths.

If you're interested in quietness, the Palit gamerock/jetstream cards are the quietest, but 2.5 slots, and the EVGA SC is the quietest 2-slot.
