Strong signal, low wifi speeds?

In the past i could max out my connection speed on wifi even at distance through double layer brick layers yet now after recabling its crawled down to a snails pace.

the recabling was due to me getting a new printer which had fax facilities so i had to unplug all the stuff because the phone line came from behind the printer so i could set up the fax and now after recabling exactly the same way my wifi connection speed is gone, fortunately, i only use my wifi for my 3ds and sometimes my laptop, no gaming just browsing.

Should i try some new ethernet cables since the ones i am using seem to have worn out contacts or is the router dead

what worn out ethernet cable!... i doubt it....

it was working fast, you messed with the adsl / phone socket and now its slow...

you messed up the adsl / phone socket... (most likely)

hang on, you sound as if you have cabled your adsl, via cat5.... can you clarify?

router is not dead or it will nto work at all...

plug in via ethernet via the router see if tis faster..

if its faster then as dwskillz said change the wireless channel... I assume you have not sat the printer on the router to block the signal (and the printer is not between the router and the laptop)

i have a cable internet connection, the phone line has nothing to do with it, i should have made that clearer. I had to unplug all the stuff because it was in the way.

also, my hardwired pc gets max speeds so its not bad cables

Knocked the router antenna screw loose/rotated it 90 degrees? It should be vertical if you want the signal to propagate horizontally
