Stronger signal

I have a NETGEAR DG834GT and was just wondering is it possible too boost the signal for it. The Netgear is in my loft and the missus laptop is in the living room.
The lappy finds the signal for the netgear but it says the signal is fair and struggles to connect most times, plus the lappy is running vista and the netgear is on an XP machine.....please help

How do you mean - if it is a router it is independent of the computer so operating system types should be irrelevant.

Yeah its a router....can the signal be boosted???

Three choices really:
1. Buy an external aerial for the router. Check that the current aerial is removeable and has a standard connector.
2. Buy a wireless range expander like the Linksys WRE54G to plug in somewhere in-between the router and the lappie.
3. Use Powerline adapters like these.

I'd go for 2 or 3 depending on whether you want to improve coverage throughout the house or just where the lappie is.
