Stronghold 2 performance issues

Just picked this up for 10 quid in town and being a massive fan of other stronghold games i thought this would be good. Just reading on the net it apparently has serious lag problems which need fixing. I cant even play the game on low/medium setting on my rig which it should do fine really.
I'm downloading the 1.3.1 patch which says it improves the codeing and other performance problems.

Anyone have stronghold 2 and downloaded that patch? made any difference?

Sorry to have to tell you this but its not your PC its the game. Its coded like crap and runs badly on just about anything.

Not a touch on the 1st one.
