I Bought a Nero Titan system last month with an ASUS 4870 1gb GC.
This month it's time to swap out my ageing Hitachi 17" (has been a lovely picture over the years...!)
Am looking at spending around 200 quid (this could change).

From reading up I was all set to go for:

Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

but see that there is a 24" (all be it the panel not being as good)

Dell S2409W 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor

which has HDMI and obviously is bigger.

I will primarily be using the monitor for PC gaming and I guess the question is just how good is the I-EPS panel, does it warrent loosing 2inch's and a HDMI connection?

Are there any other monitors I should be looking at at this price point? Cheers,

Nate.

My last monitor was a TN one, HP W2207, never had any problems with it.
Im also urrently lokoing at monitor and finding it rather hard to find a nice lookin 24" @~£200

From using my last monitor alone Im not shying away from TN based models, just wonder how many people comlpain about TN but have not actually used one and are just using the viewing angles and colour reproduction as justification. With me mainly using my PC for games and movies the viewing angles are nto of a major worry, I will say however Iw atched many a film whilst lying on the bed other side of the room adn never had any issues with viewing angles

Do you need 1080p and HDMI? Get the 2409W.
Do you want slightly better colours but at a lower resolution? Get the 2209WA.

I have a 21" Samsung TN and the 2209WA side by side.
Colours on the 2209WA are better. The response times in games are no different.

The pitfalls of the 2209 are there's no HDMI port and it's not totally silent. It takes about 3mins to warm up and during this time it makes more noise than most TFT's I've used.
You have to stand over it and listen to it in silence of course. The 2209 also takes a fair amount of calibration to get the colours spot on. It's very good for the price but you can tell it's a £200 product.
