Struggling to know what system I need, help please

Hoping for some advice please, as its been some years since I dabbled with PC components ... probably the 486DX era!

I'm looking to buy a high end PC for work and photo editing based things. I edit a lot in RAW, often have zillions of powerpoint, word and excel spreadsheets open, dropbox running along with NAS back up and then I watch movie. My current PC (a 6 year old overclockers i5 system) struggles at times. Also need to get the kids a PC, so they will get this one while daddy gets a nice shiny new one.

Also plan to buy a 27'' 4k monitor too and would like a recommendation for a graphics card that'll power it. PC Gaming has passed me by these days (apart from on a PS4), so gaming spec isn't required. But I want something powerful that won't freeze while I'm backing up, playing a video and have photoshop running with a load of open apps.

I will be very grateful for any system and graphics recommendations, or links to things on overclockers please. I've bought from here for many years without any trouble.

lol, still reeling. I think I priced that up around £2,400

Thanks for the recommendations though. Budget i had in mind (without monitor) is about £1,400, so hopefully enough.

Have PC prices gone up over the past 20 years or so? I always seem to remember it being about £1,000 (in today's money) for a solid top end PC. Seems to be £1,500 or so now.

looks a great spec and on budget.

Would I be right in assuming that this will have plenty of poke for intensive business apps, photo editing etc rather than gaming.

It would indeed, top end i7 for z170 and 16gb of ram will give it plenty of oomph for whatever you wanted to do with it, plus the GTX 1070 would be good for gaming on the side if you wanted to!
