For £509, you get a nice 2011 setup. You also get SLI/xFire in x16/x16, not that it makes much of a difference however.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail with Dead Space 3 PC Game £239.99
1 x Gigabyte X79-UD3 Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard £169.99
2 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G186C9K) £49.99 (£99.98)
Total : £509.96 (includes shipping : FREE).

For an extra £20, you can get the Asus board:

1 x Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail with Dead Space 3 PC Game £239.99
1 x Asus P9X79 Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard £199.99
2 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G186C9K) £49.99 (£99.98)

I think I've made my mind up. 2011 with the above Asus spec will be my choice I think. Will last for a long long time, new CPU's available later in the year if needed and paired with some Samsung 256/512gb SSD'd should be a breeze.

My heart say, your top spec (in this post) as it's a great scheme and i love gigabyte boards,

Though my Brain says that Asus board is going to be top class.. Can't you get the Patriot RAM (for the blue colour scheme)?

I did look at it, but not sure on the height of it fitting under my K2. The black looked smaller but I think it's deceptive. Difference is £8.

I LOVE the blue theme & my head says the same. The issue with the Gigabyte board is it only has 4 DIMM slots, limiting me to either 8/16gb's with no room for upgrade later with out selling the other RAM first. For a difference of £30, I think I've settled on the Asus.
