Hey ppl.

I recently built this (my first ever build) new rig with all the help from this site....

Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail 1
Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Gun Metal Black) 1
Pioneer DVR-212D 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter -(Black)OEM 1
Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (0A33435) 1
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail 1
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) 1
Abit IP35-E (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard 1 B) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) 2

After a few small problems i got this working stable at stock for a couple of weeks so this week i purchased a Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler with some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound and i installed this yesterday with no problems

Ok now i wanted to overclock for the first time, so i printed the Beginners Guide to Overclocking and started slowly but surely bring my CPU up to speed all was going well until i tried to go past 9X 300=2.7Ghz no matter what i do the Pc reboots after the settings are saved in BIOS it will not boot up! the pc just keeps restarting and the monito will not pick it up

Any idea what im doing wrong, ive added volts but to no avail, is there something obvious im doing wrong as a newbie to O/C?

Thanks
Chris

What speed is your memory running at after the overclock! Im running the pro version when I start adding the overclock it shows me what the memory speed will be before I reboot.

Is this what u mean??

Also to help ppl with my probs these are my settings in BIOS

DRAM 1:1.25 (DDR2-750)
PCI-Express- 100MHz
CPU core Voltage- 1.2875v
DDR2 Voltage- 2.10V
CPU VTT Voltage- 1.200V
ICH 1.50V Voltage- 1.50V
MCH 1.25V Voltage- 1.25V
CPU GTLREF- 1.250V

hmm you have 4 gb of ram iim sure i have read other posts on her about overclocking probs with 4gb of ramm can you try the same over clock but with just 2 sticks in to see if its that ?

2.7 shouldn't need to adjust vCore, but have you bumped your vDimm to c.2.10v, might need a push if you haven't.

ok removing 2RAM sticks has done the job(thanks thefishdude) i have now got it up to 3Ghz and is started normally

Chris

EDIT: Just replaced the other 2 sticks and still fine now @3.2 gonna prime etc now will keep updating thread
