Stuck at verifying DMI pool data...

My dad rang me this morning saying he had given his PC a quick dust and when he tried to turn it back on it wouldn't get any further than verifying DMI pool data,

I'm at his house now and the PC can boot into bios and I have tried changing the boot device to each hard drive and even tried booting to his windows installation disk to repair the MBR but it always freezes at the same point, even when just trying to boot from DVD

I've tried reseating all the components incase he had knocked anything loose when dusting but nothing works.

Any ideas?

Try booting with one stick of RAM at a time if you have already reseated the Dimms. Perhaps try a CMOS reset if that doesn't work

One of the first things I tried was booting with 1 stick of ram and i have tried multiple slots, I have also reset the CMOS and hasn't made a difference
