Stuck badly in HL2

I am stuck where there is a room with loads of laser beams and wall mounted machine guns (I pick three things in the room and don't know what to do - got mowed down numerous times!)

Just before I go into the room my mate in the game (which was the first team mate I met in the game) says there must be something important in there with that kind of security.

Is this the room that's inside a building with loads of striders outside? I think you have to somehow crawl over the boxes piled up in the room in a way that the guns dont hit you. You then end up by a switch which turns them all off and you're free to walk around the room.

That's it, there's a place fairly near the entrance where you can jump up and get on top of the servers or whatever they are. Good luck

Yep, go in, turn right i think it is and you can jump up onto like all the metal/dark machine things and navigate your way around the room on the, to thw switc over the other side of the room.

Took me ages to work that out when i first played it
