I was going to buy a Lian Li Pc V2100plus11 but i have got rid of a few drives so don't need the full 12 bays anymore.

Now having seen the Silverstone TJ09B-W i can't make my mind up on which too get, I am looking for a silent case.

@ the moment i have a Antec sonata with 6 Hard drives in (2 in the 5.2 bays). I have a C2D E6600 with a Sythe Ninja cooling it. The main problem now is the noise off the drives. I won't be buying anymore drives or adding anymore to it either.

Which one of these cases would be the quietest, both cases are in similar price range.

Thanks for the advice... ;) :D

After a week of trying to make a TJ-09BW quiet I have given up and one of the other guys has taken it home to make it water cooled. I'm not sure if anyone else is having resonance issues, but if you 5V the fans the side panels start to resonate on ours. Other than that, it's a gorgeous case. I still think the Lian Li will stay 'classic' for longer - these new Silverstones come and go (as do many Lian Li's) but I think the V Series will continue to evolve nicely.

WJA96 - just saw your post below.

This is not the first time I have heard to Silverstone cases with resonance issues. Do you have any more info. on this -what you tried, and what fans specifically you reckon were causig the resonance or was it all of them together at 5v. I assume there is no truth to the specs of 2100rpm at 21db and these fans are noisy at stock. Again, not one single reviewer picked up on this. No mention at all in any reviews of the cooling and noise levels which makes me suspect most reviewers didn't bother their arse actually building a rig in it.

Did you attempt quieter fans at 12v - like the Scythe SFlex 800rpm models, YateLoons, Nexus etc.. ? Also - were you able to remove the fan which cools the gpu area. I read one post where it is tough to remove. Sorry for all the questions but I am ready to order my new case as I don't like the looks of my Mirage and am trying to decide on the TJ09 or Lian LiA10B.

The big draw for me on the TJ09 *besides the looks* was the sheer amount of space as I intend to go to SLI G80's soon and install 2 additional hard drives. You can also fit the Tuniq to the mobo tray and slide it in after removing some support brackets (what Clone did). It doesn't look like the A10 can manage this, and the Tuniq may or may not be too close to the top fan.

Drat...I don't know what to do now.
It seems the simplest and cheapest solution is to do nothing and keep my Mirage. As I have no issues with it except the ugly front door :(

Well i ordered the Lian Li Pc V2100plus from OC last week should be here on Wednesday... :D

Only thing now is i can't make my mind up to buy a new PSU.

System @ the moment

Asus P5B Deluxe
C2D E6600 @2.8GHz
2GB Geil Ultra Low Latency
Gigabyte 7600GT 256mb
2 x 400GB Samsung HD401LJ SpinPoint T133 SATA II 7200 rpm 16Mb Cache
4 x 320GB 320GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Hard Disk Drive SATA 300 16MB Cache
2 x 160GB Maxtor DiamondMax 9 SATA150 (not plugged in yet need a SATA card)
1 x 200GB DiamondMax 10

At the moment i have a Antec NeoPower 480 UK...I've worked it out that i need about 389W for this lot. So do ya think i should buy a new one (I was thinking the 620W Corsair, just in case i upgrade my graphics card in the future).

We were using the stock fans.

They're OK, but they are not silent. At 5V, the fans are extremely quiet but the side panels resonate with a low buzz.

Why would you want to do that - all you need to do is look at it and take a few photographs. I have an unanswered e-mail to the editor of Custom PC asking him a very similar question about why they claimed the case door on the Akasa Mirage was metal. I think the article was written using an Eclipse and they got the case for photographic purposes only after the copy was written. I can't prove it of course. I do know that the same magazine publisher got rid of the Editor on a Mountain Bike magazine after she published an erroneous review of a mountain bike. It was tracked down to a freelance 'reviewer' who was reviewing MTBs from the comfort of his living room with just the manufacturer's brochures for company.

No, we're playing around with some Alphacool CoolAnswer III systems so we just disconnected all the fans and fitted a CoolAnswer III in the back. I don't know about removing the graphics card cooling fan but from memory the only difficulty would be getting at the fixings but I'll have to ask the guy who has it and I'm not going to call him at Christmas! I'll ask him on Wednesday if that's OK?

Great stuff. You have been really helpful. Thanks.

The resonatiing is worrying though, because I know 2 other people with different silverstones who have the same issue with 5v modded fans. It's looking more and more like the lian li now.
