Stuck between low-end Nikon Bodies.

Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice. I currently have a Nikon D40, which is now pretty old. It is pretty slow and most annoyingly has really poor ISO performance, you can't really take it above 1600, even then the photos are probably too grainy. I currently have a 35mm f1.8 prime (nikon) and 70-200mm (sigma), and of course the kit lens.

Outdoors I don't really have many complaints, but indoors (at night) trying to get good people photos is quite difficult... So I'm looking at a new Nikon DX Body.

I'm torn between the following three:

Nikon D3200 (~£325 body only)
Nikon D5100 (~£320 body only)
Nikon D5200 (~£500 body only)

I'm currently leaning towards the 3200, for that mix of latest gen tech and cheaper price. If there is any particular reason to do so then the I may consider the 5100. From what I've been reading the 5200 doesn't really justify it's price over the 3200.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

ISO is rubbish over 800. I'd get a D5100 personally and spend the difference on a AF-S 35mm F1.8G DX lens.

Already have one!

The only thing from stopping me pulling the trigger is that I would quite possible want to use the video stuff too, and this is a real improvement in the D5200 (from what I've been reading). Whether it's £150-200 better I'm not so sure!

I think the D5200 / D7000 are way out of my budget, so going to pick up a cheaper D5100. Thanks for you help guys.

What good timing. I think I might wait a while and see if I can pick up a cheaper D7000 instead.

On second thoughts managed to pick up a D5100 body only for £300 inc delivery. Seemed like a total no brainer!
