Stuck in a failed Bootcamp setup.

So, silly me here decided to install Vista (why? I don't know now...). The drivers wouldn't work, I couldn't select the disk priority to boot into OSX instead of Vista (having to keep ALT pressed was highly annoying), so back in OSX I deleted it.

THEN I thought maybe I'll slap on XP, go through all the process again and AGAIN the installation fails (this time a HAL.sys file failed). After a few more installation attempts I gave up.

Now back in OSX I cleared the partition, and alas back to OSX goodness.

Except now every time I boot (after the bong and grey screen) the computer it goes to a black screen and pops up something about disk not readable press any key........

Now I have to hold down ALT each time I reboot or boot. Which is hard sometimes cos' my bluetooth Apple Keyboard doesn't always register straight away!

What is the problem? Is it a case of trying the Bootcamp thing again to see if that shifts the problem, or something else?

I have no idea about that one.

Id suggest backing up and formatting OSX. Then starting again.

P.s I've had really good results form bootcamp with Win 7

It's a sign to stop you using Windows, otherwise you'll end up with (another) Sony Vaio iMac equiv.

Harhar.....

In OSX choose startup disc, then choose your mac partition.

As far as I understand there is now option for you to select the startup disk in OSX?

Run bootcamp and delete the partition?

The partition was deleted (by me) using Bootcamp Assistant after have had several failed attempts? It's back to normal.

SysPref > Startup Disk

Then choose your Mac hard drive.

Or even just search Startuo Disk in Spotlight.

That was my first thought, but then I thought "It's ATF, he's a Mac geek, he'll have checked that". Serves me right for assuming something!

lol.

Yes it has fixed it, but I was so sure it was because I could not install the Bootcamp drivers in Windows so I could enable it to boot into OSX not Windows.

I totally forgot it was available in OSX....but still something deep down (EFI?) must have not changed back when I removed the partition?

Anyway, no Windows on this mac mini for a while haha.

:o
