Stuck in a loop

Asus 550 MB

It’s been running perfectly for years, I switched on today and it went into a boot loop. Lights on the MB continually cycling white orange and red. The monitor reported no signal shutting down.

I tried reseating the Radion, cleared the CMOS put a new battery in still the same. HELP

Nothing at all. Turned on and it went into a loop, out of the blue

Reluctant to do that as the M.2 and Sata drives are covered by the graphics card.

I have got a spare Power Supply is it worth trying that?

With the graphics card disconnected I get just a white warning light. Progress of sorts

What PSU?

Are you using 2 x seperate power cables for the GPU, or a single daisy chained cable?

It’s a Seasonic 1000W with 2 cables

Would still suggest the use
Of a bootable usb
Even if it does require removing the m2 and sata drive
Or at least the one windows is installed on
Personally I always try to rule out software/windows
Before trying hardware

If swapping psu makes no difference
Then what do you try swapping next
Assuming you have no more compatible parts
Laying around
Ruling out software is at least a free option
Whereas hardware you could end up buying x,y,z
And still get nowhere

Not saying it couldn't be hardware
But the free options always best in my opinion
Plus windows is the issue a lot of times

I broke the retaining clip GC. I no have just a white light. I’m taking it to a repair shop tomorrow.

Update. It was the graphics card. They replaced the Radion 6800 with a 6600. I no longer game so that’s good enough.

It cost £960 two years ago. I notice the new card has three year guarantee. I bought the old one from Overclockers, how long is the guarantee with them?

It’s only a two fan card, so no clip required. It’s screwed in tight.

Looks like amd reference cards 2 years warranty
With some AIB cards 3 years
So may be worth them checking

Just off the phone with OC and it is a three year warranty. They will test it, then forward it on to Asus. Result!

Will do. Does anyone know if Asus have a UK distribution centre, or how they handle returns?

Update. OC did not pass the GC onto Asus, they tested it themselves, confirmed the fault and as they couldn’t replace it, offered a full refund of £1099.99. Fantastic service from OC.

Now have to find something to buy from OC. Again, fantastic service from OC.

I’ll keep it. The only game I play is Hearts, so plenty good enough for that. The money is in my account already.

Yeah think you're reading it wrong
He took it to a shop (local shop not ocuk) as thought warranty had expired
They tested it and gpu was faulty
Presumably they sold him a 6600 which meant he
Could use the pc and was adequate as no longer games

Then we got to discussing the original card from ocuk
Might actually have a 3 year warranty not 2
After contacting ocuk they confirmed 3 year warranty and tested it
Found it faulty while under warranty
As they didn't have a 6800 to replace it they would either offer
A different card of equivalent or greater spec
Or a refund which is what he got
So basically used the card for 2 years for free
And now bought a cheaper card more suited to his needs

That's how I read it anyway lol
But it's about 2--30am and had a few sleeping pills
So I may be wrong too
