my biggest rut was stuck in a boring stores job for years and years about 4 years ago but just too scared to try and do something else.
I was balancing on a post on porthtowon beach one day when i slipped and broke my ankle ,while off work they realised they could do ok without me
that ended in redundancy ,i put my 13k into the mortgage and with my rubbish agency job started overpaying the mortagage.
i now have a job i enjoy a 3.5 day weekend and no mortgage :)

I was stuck in a major rut for quite some time. I was lucky and things kinda came out of the blue and turned my life upside down. Looking back now though, I can see that I just needed to get out there and DO something....anything.....and eventually things would have turned around. I guess I knew that at the time but couldn't seem to do it - which I think is the case for most people in that situation. If you're in a major rut you tend to be depressed too, so your self-confidence and motivation evaporate.

But you really have just got to do something. It seems so simple looking at it now.....I can't believe I was wasting my life for all that time. I wish I could go back in time and give myself a smack!

So, don't sit around and mope - pick something to do/try (even if you think you might not enjoy it) and DO it. Then try something else. And keep doing that. Then you'll slowly find that things begin to happen and doors start to open. You just have to put yourself out there.
