So tomorrow i get a nice payday after all the hard work done over christmas.. Im considering an upgrade to my PC..

Currently im running the following setup

Intel core i7 2600 - Gelid GX7 High Performance Quiet PC Cooler
Foxconn H67MP-S
6gb DDR3 1333Mhz ram
MSI AMD Radeon HD 6850 Gfx card
Asus Xonar DX 7.1 Sound card
120Gb OCZ SSD
500Gb Sata HDD
Zalman z9 Case
Windows 8.1
2x 24" 1080p LED monitors
Corsair Builder Series CX 430W

I've been told my ram needs upgrading as it was what came with the bundle i stripped from an older acer desktop i bought second hand. The PSU is on its way out and the graphics card isn't giving me any real performance anymore..

Im looking to play battlefield 4 on ultra at a reasonable framerate aswell as a few of the newer games coming out soon (GTA 5).

Ive already been suggested:

Im worried that its a bit of a waste of time putting this gfx card into this system, I dont really have all the money in the world and would rather not upgrade the motherboard if i dont have to, but im thinking if im upgrading the gfx card and PSU, is it worth upgrading the ram also? Could i get better value with other options of PSU/Graphics card? and will the GFX card fit my case!

Sorry for all the questions :( just wanting to know all the details before i fork out close on a grand (im buying a monitor too)

Well your motherboard doesn't support faster RAM, so that idea's out the window :p

I'd be looking at a new graphics card and power supply first anyway. no point getting a new motherboard since its a dead end chipset, unless you fancy upgrading to an overclockable chip, which you've got the cooler to do so.

That upgrade of PSU+gfx will give a big boost.

Do that first then maybe look at sorting the RAM situation out later.

Your case takes GFX cards up to 290mm long, so all you have to do is check how long the GFX card is at the manufacturer website.

the PC is fine, I am using the I7 950 @ 4ghz for gaming and a GTX 970 with no issues at all.

if you can overclock the CPU and replace the GPU with something a bit better would be the best bet, if you have a stock cooler replace that with a after market one and get a bit more of a OC from the CPU

I have 6GB 1600mhz ram, see if you can set the XMP profile in the bios (if the ram supports it) and it should knock it up to 1600mhz if that's the default speed

The CPU is fine, not a K, so no multiplier overclock... but it runs 3.4/3.8 turbo anyway.
Ram is okay, but fine especially if at good timings... Intels chips don't scale massively on memory speeds.

Replace PSU/better GPU, better monitors... and if you're short on ram grab a cheap 8GB kit and replace the Dimm you currently have single channel.

You can overclock the CPU 4 bins higher iirc - I'll try and find a link to a guide of some sorts EDIT: You have H67 board, does this support overclocking?
Agreed with Ronald, you need to get a better GPU & PSU before a 1440p monitor (GTX 970 will cut it) or a 980 if you want to spend more. 970 is supposed to be better bang/buck though, as it's only a bit slower than a 980!

A R9 290 like the OP listed is more than enough for 1080P+1440P gaming ;)
