Got my new pc build the other day and after building it up decided to start overclocking it. The motherboard gave me a few probs auto overclocking the FSB when i never asked it too and clocking my CPU to 3.60 and very unstable. After sorting that out i upped the multiplier to 18 gradually and increased the voltage to 1.4v and after 8 hours of prime95 all seems stable. It's given me a clock speed of 3.61ghz, however i can't seem to push it any further. My cpu is under water and temps are maxing out at 43 and idle at 30. Have i hit the clocking wall or is there more i can do? My ram is g.skill ripjaws and i know they are tested to 1.65v but they are running at 1.55v, would upping the voltage help?
Also ive managed to unlock 3 cores on my cpu, but when i use it in 4 cores it posts and then freezes on windows loading screen, is this core dead?
Btw i'm fairly new to overclocking, keep reading guides on overclocking but keep getting confused with everything.
System specs are :
550BE 3.10 @ 3.61
Asus Crosshair IV forumla amd 890fx
G.skill Ripjaw 4gb @ 1600mhz
WD 640gb 6gb/s sata
Coolit eco watercooler
650w corsair psu
Ati 5770 vapour-x
