Trying to overclock a mates PC but I'm having issues.

I've managed to get the speed up from 2.4Ghz to 2.7Ghz, but I cant get it any further. It will POST and then try and load windows but fail with a bluescreen or just go black.

The multiplier is at 12, and as soon as I try an FSB of 230 or more it doesnt want to know. I've upped the voltage to the CPU and have the RAM running at 2.6v

The RAM by default is meant to run at 2.5, 3,3,8 timings which I have set it to. My thinking is that the RAM needs overclocking somewhat, but having only ever overclocked intels before, I'm having trouble.

What frequency do you reckon the RAM should be set to? Its 2Gb of Corsair 3200 DDR

Is this even the reason I'm struggling or is there something I've missed?

Cheers

4800x2

My Am2 4800x2 never made it past 2.95 - really wanted 3ghz too.

Try setting the RAM below spec - its probably defaulted to 800mhz try lowering it a couple of knotches.

Also watch the HST is not over 1000 if it i knotch it down until it is

Tried dropping down the HT Multiplier from 5x/4x to 3x? as with amds you have a couple of things to see to, not just adjust voltage and ram strap like intels then raise the fsb

Also with this screenshot i have linked youll notice a part called HT Link u need to keep that as close to 1000 as that will cause ocing problems

is the ram still running at 200FSB (ddr400) i'm assuming when you bump the main board FSB up you are bumping the ram up at the same time, so try dropping the speed of the ram. As a general rule put your ram on the lowest speed setting possible or keep it below its rated speed till you see what the CPU will do.
