Currently I am using a Samsung 2233 120Hz monitor (so 22 inch).
I have the 3D Vision kit but rarely use it so am tempted to sell my monitor & 3D Vision kit and buy something like the Hanns G HZ281HPB.

Does this sound like a good idea?
I sit approx 1.5 - 2.0 feet from my monitor, will a 27 inch screen be ok?
Am I likely to suffer going from 120Hz to 60Hz? I play games like BF3 mainly, but enjoy Alice, Dead Space and C&C games.
At 27 inchs does 1920x1200 look ok? I am a bit concerned because I see some that size with 2560x1440.

Cheers for any help.

I've had the Hanns G HZ281HPB since May 2010 and I'm very happy with it. I upgraded from a Sammy 226BW.
I sit about 1.5 to 2.0 feet away from it.
I use it primarily for playing games - Skyrim, BF3, SWTOR, Rift - they all look superb. No ghosting, no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, no buzzing.
Text looks great when browsing, programming etc. I don't see any of that "fuzzy blocky text" that people talk about on 1080p 27"-30" panels. I think a resolution of 1920x1200 on a 27" panel is perfectly acceptable.

Having said all of that, I've recently purchased one of those 27" Hazro IPS monitors (HZ27WC) which has a resolution of 2560x1440 but I didn't buy it for the rez, I bought it for the IPS panel.
I would love to tell you how good it is but unfortunately, although I've bought it I don't actually have it yet because OcUK are currently awaiting stock :(

The HZ281HPB is certainly a decent monitor. However, if you are used to the smoothness of a 120Hz monitor - then going to a 60Hz monitor (albeit a larger one) may feel like a step back when you are playing fast-paced games. Instead, I would suggest going for a larger, 1080p 120Hz monitor like the BenQ XL2420T.

As wapcatlet mentions, the 1920x1200 resolution on a 27in shouldn't be much of a problem (I personally use a Dell Ultrasharp 27in 1920x1200 monitor I find it to be fine) though the issue with narrow viewing angles (due to the TN type panel) on such a large screen may put you off going for such a large TN type monitor.

Thank you for your input.
If I decide to sell it would be for something like a 26in or 27in.

What are your thoughts on the BenQ G2750 in this week only offer?
And the Asus VE278Q..?

I use a 2233rz for FPS gaming (no stereo 3D) and I wouldn't go back to a 60Hz panel ever.... but your mileage may vary. For me the low input latency, overall responsiveness/smoothness and most importantly much reduced residual image issues would be hard to part with.
