I've been looking around finding cheaper prices for Zbrush. But when doing so I found some sites that sell things like 3Ds MAX 9 for £100! I'm sure last time I checked, 3Ds Max costed thousands of pounds. So my question is, are these student priced versions the same as full retail copies, or are they stripped of certain features?

Full versions as far as I'm aware.

Even adobe suites etc are very cheap if your a student, knocking over a thousand off prices on some products..

some student versions (well 3ds max is) are licensed on a yearly basis, some are restricted use (ie not for profitable work - adobe/ms etc), some have student edition stamped over any work (Solidworks). Theres usually something in the t&c's which is different.

Usually software companies want student to learn and become competent in their product and their product only so that employers will need to fork out for the software once you're in the workplace. By making it really cheap, more graduates will know how to use the product and the more work licenses will need to be bought.
