Hi.

I was wondering if anyone could answer me a question regarding the student loan i've been recieving this year.

I've just recieved my final Higher Educational Grant payment for this year. However i was only in education for half of the year so i got half the grant but it was still paid over the three terms. However, yesterday i got a letter dated April 2nd, that my 'Dependants Grant' is to be stopped.

I thought that the Dependants Grant was for people who are looking after children, which i have never applied for as i don't care for children.

So is this a case of their system thinking that i am entitled to £0 dependants grant and that i recieved a payment of £0 and that it should be stopped. Or is the Higher Education Grant including in the 'Dependants Grant' category.

I've tried ringing the SLC but they can't answer my question as their network is down today. I was wondering if anyone on here would know the answer.

Thanks

Sounds to me like you said..... £0 has been stopped.

Systems to crazy things. At undergrad I was sent a bursary as they thought I had a child. Gave it back. Then it happened again a year later. I gave that back too - but I couldn't help but feel someone was giving me free money.

You only got £0 free though :p :(

it looks like theyve been looking at the grants lately as a lot of people i know have recieved letters telling them they arent getting their grant or are only having half etc. i havnt heard anything as of yet *touch wood*

At least that means that when they start demanding repayment, i only have to fork over £0 then :P

I'd cry laughing if they took me to court over it as well hehe.

I'll still look into it incase they actually mean the Higher Education Grant.

yeah, my girlfriend has had hers stopped and repayment demanded because one of the forms had been filled in incorrectly when she applied for it (they noticed in the past month or so)
