student sex attack

How is it a FAIL if I asked a question?

Did an actual attack take place after he walked for a few minutes with his arm around her or was the act of putting his arm around her all that took place? The article isn't clear and makes references to "inappropriate behaviour", although it is past my bed time and I'm feeling a little sluggish. :o

Looks like YOU failed to read my OP

Because you posed a question which highlighted the fact that you'd failed to read the article correctly.

Also demonstrating a common sense fail too tbh... No putting your arm around someone isn't sexual assault - it is quite clearly footage of the moments leading up to the assault.

Police have released CCTV footage of a man in connection with a sexual assault.

Watch the footage leading up to the attack,

Were you actually expecting to see part of an attempted rape or similar as part of a police campaign. How would that help in assisting to identify the suspect any further?

He is wanted for a sexual assault, they have released some footage of him, at no point in the article does it state that the footage is of the sexual assault itself.

I ALREADY said that I might've failed to read it properly in my OP

Regular Joe: "Hey guys, can you check something for me please? I think I'm missing something."

More superior human: "YOU FAIL AT READING!"

Putting your arm around someone is not sexual assault.

That was kind of the point of the topic. The article doesn't specify what the assault was. All we can see is that someone put his arm around a girl. I know that some girls would see this as an assault and report it.

As an example - http://ezinearticles.com/?Battery-For-Hugging-And-Attempting-To-Kiss&id=5053774

EDIT - and a UK case - http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...8Q6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=kiss battery law&f=false

I don't think there is much more to the story than that.

It says the assault was sexual.

They are not going to let you watch him rape her in the street, if they even caught it on camera.

Poorly written article, more like. This is 'Wales Online' after all. That is all it looks like to me, given the thin amount of facts there.

It is, because it gives no details of the assault. If it were a clear and well-written article we wouldn't be having this debate.

You want it to tell you what he did to her?

I don't think that is very much appropriate in any new article.

Sexual assault is sexual assault does is matter what the offending act is that followed the CCTV? And she has a right to some privacy about the matter.

Poor, Biohazard! Once again, the article is at fault since it is highly nebulous. You must see that, at least.

ALL we can tell from what it says is that the assault amounts to nothing more than a man putting his arm around a girl. The article, nowhere, mentions rape, just 'sexual assault'. What 'sexual assault' is remains unclear. Therefore the facts in the article are all we have to by. Beyond that we are just going round in circles.

Exactly. Most news reports about sexual assault don't go into the details about what happened because it's just not necessary or decent.

Thread about nothing tbh :)
