Studio 12.1 patch fails to install

Hello,
We have Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate installed and getting an error message when trying to burn a new disk, this message was then researched online and we were told to install the latest patch (12.1) from this support page:

We have downloaded the patch and when we open it we get the following message:

Can anyone help us out?

Just restarted and tried installing the patch again and we get the same issue. A picture of the error is below - It's odd that the same error message is displayed but with different icons?

How was the original software installed?

Only times I have seen a similar message is:

a) software install was customised with an MST file

b) with games patches where the patch is for a slighty different version of the game ie US vs UK versions.

Have you tried unpacking the update, no idea if this can be done though and then applying the update once it's unpacked. This process might also give you a more meaningful error message.

Thanks for your post. I am the guy who persuaded the OP to come here to ask their questions and I actually posted it for them while they watched me do it. So how would you unpack the file?

I will go and see if we got the UK version of the patch. - Thats a good reccomendation.

Try running the patch from a CMD window with /? or -? as a commandline parameter to see if it offers any other options such as unpack or forced install.
 
yep, open command window, use 'cd' to change to the folder where the patch is then patch.exe /? and see what happens.
 
Hiya,
Just tried using '/?' after the path to the file in a command prompt and it just starts the insatller as normal and fails like it has done every time before.

Please can someone help to fix this error.
