'studio' softbox on 430ex flash ?

As title is it possible to get a softbox for a canon 430ex on a tripod? It's for an outdoor portraiture shoot on a beach,so obvs need the 430 off cam and is portable

Lastolite looks good, but expensive, was thinking upto £40-ish maybe, ill see if Rg_Tom is online

i just use a portaflash cheapo softbox, made my own adaptor o that it'd fit onto a lightstand.

The far easier way to do it is get what's called an umbrella softbox, its an umbrella covered with softbox material, much more portable an easier to use with a strobe. they only cost like 30 quid from ebay and give round catchlights instead of square!

You could build your own like I did. I made my own following a DIY Softbox guide on flickr and used an old picture frame.

view very poor photos of it's construction, haven't had the opportunity to use it in the field yet.

Obviously it's not as portable as a bought one but at less than £5 in materials and few hours of my time it's not bad.
