Stuff you should know, but don't

Decorating to a high standard.

I mean the glossing, cutting in etc....i always start out well, get bored and rush the rest so it ends up looking cack.

I should know more about the French revolution.

I studied it in my second year at uni for a whole term, my little sister comes into my room last night and asks me to check her homework for her on the french revolution and I'd forgotten half the stuff she had written down!

EDIT: and she's only 12!

I cant fold clothes.

I have to get my mum or sister to do it or my clothes are just in a creased mess :o

Put up shelves, or anything involving drilling into a wall. Every time I've always watched someone else do it and never actually done it myself. And I don't have anywhere I want to ruin by practicing myself.

My wife's birthday - every sodding year.... :-(

Dont worry my friend women are fickle creatures why they won't just say in plenty of time 'I want this for my birthday' is beyond me, its a daft criteria on the females assessment of a mate, having to remember mundane stuff that hardly in any way effects day to day life :p

stuff i should know but dont?

how would i know?

There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know.

But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know.

this is the one that gets me... i suspect i fall into this territory with certain regularity.. things like making a social faus paux....no one actually tells you haha....oh dear.....you just dont get invited to the next party :p:(
