Stulid - CPU Choice

If you skipped SB then go for IB, if you want to save a few pounds go SB but just make sure to get the K versions of the i5 or i7 which ever you choose as for the ram 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz should be fine.

Hi Surveyor

Read that, bit inconclusive TBH

As I am stepping up from a Q6600 then both SB and IB are a major improvement

I won't be O'Cing more than 4.5Ghz so was wondering that IB may be fine for me

Cheers

Lew

If you arent going above 4.5 then due to the IPC and lower voltage potentially needed to get to 4.5 then I think IB would be the better choice then personally, but may be best to wait and see how the chips do when they're in peoples hands on a larger scale :)

Well if you need to order today, then the 2500K is the only choice.

The IB are available Sunday.

Hi Stulid

DOn't need to order CPU today, but most of kit to get 10% benefit

Wont be able to build till next week anyway as out of country on stag weekend tonight till mid week next week

Is that RAM you speced OK with IB?

Cheers dude

Lew

That RAM is still fine, but IB and indeed the Z77 Gigabyte boards can easily take higher speed RAM.
