Hello there,

I'm moving in a week and I'm taking my old bike with me to commute every now and then. The bike is a Diamondback Sorrento. Truth be told I've not used it in about 7 years but it seems in fairly good nick. I'm going to oil it up and check all the brake cables etc. over the weekend.

I want to change to city or equivalent tyres and I'm stumped. I've tried reading various online bits about them and I feel like I'm getting there and then something will muddle me. At present it has some offroad-type 26x2.1 tyres. I'm figuring this means I can stick any 26 inch tyre on the rim providing it's not too narrow (i.e. 1.25). Is this correct?

I'm looking at something like these 26x1.75 tyres. Thinking I can use the current tubes or would you recommend new ones?

Also any other general recommendations? I'll be buying a decent helmet, set of lights for the evenings, relfective cover for my backpack.

The tube will be for a range of tyre widths, mine are 1.75-2.5 but they are off-road mtb tubes. Generally it'll be fine wit most size tyres unless they're tiny <1".

Yes you are correct. Any 26" tyre will fit. What wheels/rims do you have ?

Ah cheers. The rims are unmarked bar a Diamondback sticker on them with some kind of 'dual alloy' branding. The current tyres are Kenda 26x2.1. Not sure which model.
