Stumped. Headset issue.

I have an unusual usage when it comes to gaming headsets. I soley use a headset for chat only, preferring to keep my hearing ability available to other occupants and guests.

I have a wired headset that has an open back cup design, it has just one ear cup (and a mic).

On the PS4, headset works brilliant as the cable only travels a few inches to the controller.

However, on the pc (connected via mobo or front audio jacks), the headset works fine if I am ever stood next to it (Never, except to test they work without extension, they do). Seeing as the pc is metres from where I sit to game (on the couch), I have to use an extention cable.

I have the right cable with the right number of polarities, however, audio and microphone volume is extremely low.

Due to not being able to find similar headset in wireless form, I'm now looking for solutions. I have absolutely no idea about audio devices.

I'm thinking that a soundcard would solve this issue?

The wire distance would be a total of around 5 or 6 metres.
It would solely be for pc only, so external devices to fix this issue I would preferably like to avoid.

Any suggestion most welcome.

Some cheap cable could have too thin conductors, causing voltage loss to likely rather low to start with signal of microphone.

Actually you could find some rather cheap wireless microphones from web.
Though not sure of their quality.
