I was just doing a port scan at sygate and after it had finished this is what it come out with.

You have blocked all of our probes! We still recommend running this test both with
and without Sygate Personal Firewall enabled... so turn it off and try the test again.

Recommending to turn it off just for another test seems like stupid advice tbh. :p

I don't use thier firewall anyway though, hardware plus a software one.

When you say firewall are you refering to an All in one solution which functions as an Adsl Router/Modem/Switch/Firewall or a dedicated appliance? Like a Cisco Pix or a Watchguard Firebox?

Being asked to turn your firewall off wouldnt present a threat whilst the test is running i imagine they use it as a comparison between having the firewall on and and off, but seeing as you arnt using there product the test would be invalid from there point of view as they would most likely be tested the effectiveness of there software solution.

It's just a port scan to see if they're open, closed or invisible, i just found their recommendation funny and a bit stupid thats all, the computer wouldn't be secure if all you had was their software firewall and turned it off would it?
