Hi

Not sure if this is best in here or the Games section. Basically GFWL is doing my nut in and I can't sign-in from GTA IV.

From the Windows desktop and the Website I can login and access my account fine. Yet in-game, I get a message about not being able to connect. Well that's a fat lot of good, how am I meant to save my progress?!

I'm running the latest version of GTA IV, latest version of GFWL, added to Windows Firewall and I've manually opened up the required TCP/UDP ports and rebooted my router. Yet it still won't connect.

I've dropped Rockstar support an email but wondered if anyone on here has a fix for GFWL not connecting?

Thanks.

Nope. DOW2 has been out for 18months and people still get randomly booted from that. Gfwl is just microsoft trying to take on steam, and has been nothing but poo since it's conception. Unfortunately they slipped it into so many popular games it won't even die a slow, painful death :(

Buggy, limiting, unnecessary, annoying..

Post your GFWL log here and I guess I could take a look, I spent a couple of hours earlier finally sorting mine out so I may be able to help. First impressions of the app are terrible though!

Users\*you*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\GFWLive if you're running 7, somewhere else on XP (couldn't tell you)

Thanks, just had a look and there are no log files created in there. Just a shortcut to the Install Log files.

I should ask, do I need to be "online" for it to save my games? It shows my Gamer Tag and then has "offline" underneath. Will this suffice, or do I need to be connected to Live? (That's the bit that is failing). I'm just wondering if being "offline" would suffice?

Thanks.

Thanks for that link again, after trawling through the posts you can create an Offline profile! GRRRR!!

So I've done that and it'll now let me save the game progress, which can be uploaded whenever I can get signed in properly.

You need to create a new account, but then scroll down to the bottom of the agreement and there is a blue HTML link to create an offline account.

Thanks! :)
