Not sure why but i fancy a dual GFX set up i game at 1900x1200 on a 24" but have 2 19" that i want to add for some tri monitor set up. would i be mad to sell my gtx280 for 2 HIS ATI Radeon HD 5770 ?

Yeah, that would be a bad idea.

If you want to move to a triple monitor setup, the 5850 or 5870 would be a much better bet (faster, and with no multi-GPU issues). Is eyefinity even enabled with crossfire setups yet?

Bugger cheers guys thought so, dont really have £400 to spend, the gtx280 runs everything i want so maybe ill just try get another 1 second hand and sli then may be better.

Hmm would the same apply to going to 2 4890s then in CF as in bad idea?

I'm also pretty sure Eyefinity won't work with multiple resolutions. All three panel will be run at the lowest common denominator.

Running non eyefinitied you can have differing resolutions but not sure if three monitors are supported?

not to worried about Eyefinity as there is other software that will let me run those screens..GFX cards are my weak points and have little knowledge 2 4890 should be better then gtx280 though i would think ?

There is the software SoftTH, its supposed top be able to run very well.
You will need a 2nd card to run your 3rd monitor from unless you card has 3 ports? it can any any old card as only the primary GPU is used to render graphics.

The only draw back is that the list of compatible games isn't very big.

I'm sure eyefinity can use different resolution monitors? Havnt tried it myself yet. But SoftTH can defintely use different size monitors together.
