My colleague seems to think it's a good idea not to invest in tea towels and to just dry crockery using a now defunct pair of boxer shorts.

On how many levels is this just wrong? He's no longer a student.

That's kinda disgusting and a little bit lazy :p

The fact he is no longer a student means he has run out of legitimate reasons for doing this and should invest in tea towels immediately :p

Tea towels are just cotton, boxers are just cotton. If boxers are cheaper, seems fine to me.

What's cheaper is just allow the stuff to drain on the board and then put them away a few hours later.

I occasionally use an old sock from the laundry basket to clean dust off the bedroom TV.

Nothing like a bit of toe jam to shine it up real nice.

As long as they're not dirty I don't see the problem, although I've always used tea towels even as a student.

He assures me after doing this for a long period, he has now invested in tea towels, but still thinks there is nothing wrong with his innovative if unorthodox solution.

Yeah but then you get watermarks.

Maybe he uses the tea towels for other purposes.....

Unfortunately I remember that thread about the guy who put a tea towel on himself when his father walked in and watched him.

Whilst drying stuff with a pair of underwear isn't technically much different from using a tea towel, does he just hang the pants on a rail in the kitchen when not in use? That's the weird part.

That is messed up, my boxer shorts smell even after being washed. :(

On the topic of stupid ideas, My annoying boss who sits next to me all day and went to eton boys school is the most pompous arrogant **** i have ever met. Well someone calls him up and says, I can't find X employee on my BB contacts. So instead of asking me to help the guy he says that he wants all the firms contacts to be added to every users contacts and everyones contacts needs to be updated when a new user arrives. I said why not just use the look up feature, that is what its for, he say i don't want people messing around with lookup feature. lol. I have to deal with this **** every day. Not as bad as the boxer shorts but stupid.

Doesn't matter. There are more germs per square inch on a teatowel than on a housefly so the boxers can't be any worse.

If you are worried you should use a dish washer or leave them to drain.
