Stupid insurance question

It's that time of the year again where I need to refresh the insurance policy on my wifes car so I've been overloading the compare websites.

Onto the query, on the policy I have my daughter who 18 days after the policy starts will have a driving license for 2 years, having a license for 2 years make a whooping £300 difference to the premium so £1400 vs £1100.

Now I know the logical thing to do is to add her to the policy after she has 2 years but she does use the car so I was wondering if when she has 2 years I could ring up the insurance company and ask them to take this change into account? Probably a stupid thing to ask I suppose but those 18 days do make a significant difference.

add her when the two years has passed, if she needs to use the car in the mean time add her as a temp driver.

I dont think they will be able to add her on and adjust the premium as when the policy starts she is at the younger age and therefore the premium will be calculated higher

Can't have you cake and eat it I'm afraid. Especially not where insurance companies are involved :(

Yes I know, pity really :)

I think SGWills answer might well be the best compromise, so take out the insurance without her, then add her as temp and then add her permanently after the 2 year anniversary. I'm going to talk to the insurance company to see what they say.

Don't add her when 18 days have passed. Cancel the policy and restart it. This is assuming she gets named driver no claims.

The company won't count it unless its a full year as I found out painfully.
