Right, I am in need of a new HDD. So I went onto the OCUK website, and saw a 320GB sammy F1 for £32.99, I thought "great, that's just what I need" so i ordered it... I then realised this was the one with 8mb cache intead of 16mb. What do I do? I want to cancel my order and place an order for the 16mb version. I have sent OCUK a webnote asking them to cancel the order, but should I place another order for the 16mb cache one. I cant afford to have 2 HDDs turn up to my house...

Any help would be great.

Can they just change the order and charge me the extra £4 or do I have to make a new order?

I'm sure they will be able to change it, they might have to cancel your order and you pay over the phone as they can't charge £4 (i dont think) i think it's 8 they open for calls (not 100%)

EDIT just checked its 8:30 they are open

Thats no good then, Im not home between 8 and 3:30 (School)

I just have to hope they read my webnote... :\

I sent them a webnote when I ordered the wrong item (I think it was a weekend too). They cancelled the order fine and I went on an bought the correct item. If you inform them of the "correct" item that you will be ordering then they will know not to cancel that order too.

Oh, I would suggest having a look at this drive. Its £7 more, 180GB more storage and much faster :)

Space isnt an issue, it will only be used as a boot drive. I thought that the 320GB was the fastest mechanical drive due to its platter size? I am after the fastest mechanical drive for sub £40 preferably. Cant justify going SSD just yet.

My WD Black 500GB has 32MB cache and reads @ 90MB/s in HDTUNE, but my 500GB F1 with 16MB cache reads @100MB/s

The F3 is one of the fastest mechanical drives because it uses 500GB platters. So that 500GB F3 is just one platter.

Looking at this test, the F3 has an average throughput of 110MB/s and 136MB/s max, this clearly beats the Samsung F1 shown on the same test.

Okay, so a Samsung F3 500GB would be the best? Seems way too big for just a boot drive, but ohh well.
