Stupid mistake

DISASSEMBLE!

Be prepared for Steve Jobs to bend you over and insert his mini CD in to your slot drive if you need to buy a new one.

Pressing the eject button could be a start.

I took a CD over for my mates iMac and when he put it in it didn't even recognise it was in! And Apple in all their infinite wisdom hadn't put an eject button on the drive to manually eject it as it could only be done via software. Disassembling would be a start, and then get a proper computer with an eject button!

sorry for the slow reply, it's a macbook pro 13. Doing the restart eject thing doesn't work :(.

Shake it for all it's worth?

Personally, if it's a MacBook I'd take it to an Apple store to see if they can help (you might have to open your wallet) rather than risk damaging the machine trying to get it out.

hold slot facing down and slide in card/tweezers to try retrieve disc.

Small CDs and slot loading drives don't mix. The mechanism won't have caught it at all, so expecting it to eject it isn't going to happen.

quick google says this might work

"Easy solution. Saw this a few times at my old college.

Get a business card, put tape on one side.. stick it in with the tape down... press eject.. grab your disk.. enjoy."

I did this a couple of years ago (Wii user here, so I expected it to work).

The way I got the disc out, was get a thickish piece of a5 paper (or tear a piece of a4 in half).

Fold the paper in half, insert the folded paper into the drive and try and get the disc between the 2 flaps. I then pinched the paper together as close the drive as possible, and gently worked it out. I think i also pushed the disc to the edge of the drive and kinda rolled it out with the paper.

Sounds vague but it only 2 about a minute and both the disc and drive still work fine.

No you will, we've taken Macs to the Apple store before because of this. I'm assuming this is why they don't have a quick release ?

Strangely though they always try to change the logic board no matter what the fault :-/
