Evening all.

Just bought left 4 dead. I'd rather like to play it, so installed, updated (had a moment of passion with my Virgin 50 meg modem after it did that in about 12 minutes :) ) - then was told I should really update the video drivers. Felt this was somewhat unnecessary, considering they allow TF2 and HL2 #1,#2 and various other games to run flawlessly on steam, but what the hell. Hit download, 1 minute later I had them, another minute and they were installed. Reboot. Monitors not reconfigured. Fine, went to nvidia control panel. Erm. Wtf.

That wonderful option that allows a start / desktop bar on one screen and a free monitor adjacent (I have twin 19"s running off the spec in sig below via dvi) 'Twin View' I believe its called - is missing. Options are as follows:
- Only use one display (Single) - Pointless
- The same on both displays (Clone) - Useless unless my eyesight mutates and allows me to train individual eyes to separate screens - think of the pr0n possibilities!
- As one large horizontal desktop (Horizontal span) - Useless for playing games and or watching movies simultaneously - reason for having dual screens!
- As one large vertical desktop (Vertical span) - Also useless.

Where the bloody hell has my beloved twin view gone?

Help would be appreciated.

Have you actually tried "As one large horizontal desktop"? It's very rare that any program (besides one specifically designed to do it) will stretch your taskbar across two screens.

Actually, all the games i've tried in the last few minutes have done. FS 2004, X, HL2, Portal, css, Crysis and TF2 all booted with some ridiculous res (2566x900 or something?)

Sorted now. Moment of panic over. Just rebooted and used the windows display settings tool. ****in useless nvidia driver app. For all the money we shell out for their products you'd think they could atleast provide decent control (not the actual drivers - which I think are brilliant (before I get a bunch of linux groupies throwing rocks at me) ) apps. Anyways. Cheers for the quick reply. L4D begins..
